Professional Football Contract

Professional National Football League, or NFL, players are members of a union called the National Football League Players Association, also known as NFLPA. The National Football League Players Association negotiates minimum contract requirements for all league players under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, or CBA. The CBA contract lays out the rules governing the negotiation of an individual professional football contract. The CBA has a minimum salary requirement for all players signing a professional football contract, and in addition a salary cap is instituted for all contracts, specifying the maximum amount that a football team can spend in a season to compensate all of their players. A professional football contract is not guaranteed like other sports contracts often are, meaning that if a player is cut from a team or quits before their contract has expired, the contract is voided and the player will not continue to receive payment from the team.
