Producers Contract

In the music business, a producers contract is used to secure a music producer for a recording session. Music producers record and mix songs in a recording studio, and may also help with song arrangement, style, and composition. A producers contract will generally include information relating to both the producer and the recording artist's rights, responsibilities, and duties in regard to the recording and producing process. Producers may be paid an advance fee for their work, paid for either by the recording artist, the record label who will publish the recorded work, or a third party. Profit points are also often addressed in a producers contract. Profit points refer to the percentage of future profit from sales of the recorded songs that the producer is entitled to. More experienced and talented producers generally require more points in a producers contract than less in demand producers. Recording artists should be careful, however, not to give away too much of their future profits to producers.
