Minor League Baseball Contracts

Minor league baseball contracts are usually governed by the Major League Baseball Association, who controls most minor league clubs. Not every minor league team is associated with Major League Baseball, or MLB, however. Some leagues are referred to as independent leagues, and have no ties to the governing body of major league baseball. Regardless of what sort of league a minor league player belongs to, minor league baseball contracts are always considerably less expensive than major league baseball contracts. While major league players often sign multi year contracts worth millions of dollars, minor league baseball players make a modest salary and are usually also given monetary food allowances. Successful minor league players may advance to the major leagues, regardless of whether they play in MLB affiliated leagues or independent leagues. Also, both current and former major league players often play with minor league teams for a variety of reasons. An MLB player who has been injured may often practice and rehabilitate with a minor league team.
