Entertainer Contract

An entertainer contract is a generic term used to describe a number of specific contracts related to the entertainment industry. An entertainer contract may be a contract between a recording artist or musician and a record label, or a contract related to modeling, acting, dancing, hosting, or many other activities related to entertainment in general. Copyright issues are regularly discussed in such contracts, especially when the entertainer produces material which may be copyrighted. A contract should specify who owns the exclusive copyrights to any creative work. Compensation should also be addressed in an entertainer contract. Advance payments for work are sometimes negotiated in an entertainer contract. In some cases an artist may be required to pay back advance payments from future profits, which can be a risky arrangement for some. In order to ensure that an entertainer contract is fair and beneficial to an artist, an experienced attorney should review the contract before agreeing to the terms.
