Contract For Producers

A music production contract is a contract for producers and musical artists which lays out the terms, duties, rights, and responsibilities of all parties involved in the recording and production of musical compositions. Producers may be chosen by the record label that a band or musician is signed with, or producers may be selected by the artists themselves. It is important that musicians choose producers whose artistic vision is compatible with their own and whose working style will mesh well. Some producers take a very hands on approach, and may wish to exert strict control over the production, while other producers may take a more easy going and collaborative approach to music production. In a typical contract for producers, the percentage of profits granted to the producer for future sales will be addressed. Producers with a long and impressive track record will generally be able to secure a higher percentage than less experienced producers.
