Baseball Team Contracts

Professional baseball teams maintain a twenty five man active team roster as well as a forty man roster. Professional Major League Baseball players are under contracts with their designated teams, and these contracts usually last for a period of a year or more. Exceptional players may be able to sign ten year contracts totaling millions of dollars. Major League Baseball team contracts may be guaranteed contracts in some cases. This means that the money paid to the player is guaranteed, no matter what happens. If the player is cut early from the team or suffers an injury which stops him from being able to play, the team is still obligated to compensate that player under the terms of a guaranteed contract. Baseball team contracts also often allow players to be traded to other teams, though some contracts may contain a no trading clause, securing a player's spot on the team.
