Baseball Players Contract

A professional baseball players contract can be as simple or as complex as the player wishes it to be. Using an agent, a baseball player negotiates the terms of a contract, and may add special perks and clauses that often have no relation to actually playing the game of baseball. For example, a baseball players contract may stipulate the type of hotel room that a team must provide a player when playing away games. A baseball players contract may also specify that the team must provide the player with plane tickets to visit his family periodically throughout the year. Personal masseuse services, personal trainers, and perks for family members may also be included in a baseball players contract. If a team decided to cut a player before their contract expires, depending on the contract the team may be responsible for paying the remainder of the player's salary, or the team may be required to pay a fee to the player that is a percentage of the total salary.
