Baseball Contracts

Baseball contracts are used in both minor league baseball and major league baseball. The term baseball contract usually refers to a contract signed by a baseball player, though baseball contracts may also refer to television broadcasting contracts, executive contracts, and contracts pertaining to other jobs related to the baseball industry such as contracts for coaches or trainers. In the case of baseball contracts used for players of the game, baseball contracts are usually negotiated by agents who work on behalf of a baseball player. Agents argue for higher salaries and signing bonuses, and may also negotiate special clauses and requirements. Baseball contracts often contain unique and sometimes bizarre clauses, also called "side deals." Side deals in baseball contracts can include anything from requiring a personal masseuse, cars, plane tickets, luxury hotel rooms, and interpreters, to stipulating future monetary performance based bonuses. In other cases, baseball contracts may be very simple, containing no clauses or special terms.
